Miami, Florida – Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, will speak tomorrow Friday October 9th before the United Way’s Women Leadership Breakfast. Ileana will then serve as the Commencement Speaker for the 2009 Graduating Class of Carlos Albizu University.

At the 8AM Women’s Leadership Breakfast, Ileana will speak about the achievements of women business leaders from across South Florida. The United Way will in turn thank the Congresswoman and acknowledge her efforts in securing $300,000 in federal funds for the United Way’s Center for Excellence in Early Education that seeks to improve the quality of early care and education. Tomorrow Friday’s breakfast will be at 7:45 AM at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center. The campus is located in Coral Gables.

At 9:30 AM, the Congresswoman will serve as the Commencement Speaker for the 2009 Graduating Class of Carlos Albizu University. This University is a private, independent, not for profit educational center that has graduated more than 19% of all Hispanic psychologists who earned a doctoral degree in the US during the period of 1980 through 1990. More recently, according to the National Science Foundation, Carlos Albizu University was ranked as the fourth leading institution of higher learning granting doctoral degrees to Hispanics during the period of 1995 through 1999. The graduation will take place tomorrow Friday at 9:30 AM at the James L. Knight Center, located at 400 SE 2nd Avenue, Miami.
