Ros-Lehtinen concerned as Florida's jobless rate hits eleven percent; Says that Congress needs to act on legislation that reduces regulation & taxes on small businesses
October 16, 2009
Miami, Florida ---- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, issued the following statement regarding the jobless rate in Florida hitting eleven percent.
Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
“Floridians are struggling to make ends meet and worried over how they will feed their families. We in the Congress must work to assure that we help them with extended unemployment benefits and we must act quickly on pending legislation that would invigorate the economy and cut taxes for the middle class and small businesses.
I am proud to have co-sponsored legislation that would reduce regulation and taxes on small businesses; tax incentives to lower the capital gains tax and investment job tax credits.
I also urge the Leadership in the House to approve the long stalled Colombia Free Trade Agreement, as this will do away with tariffs on our products entering Colombia, producing jobs here in South Florida and across the State.”
