Ros-Lehtinen Advocates Bipartisan Effort To Stem Growing Job Losses
November 6, 2009
Washington, DC ---- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, issued the following statement regarding the ever growing number of job losses and calling for a bipartisan plan to promote job creation.
Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
“I am deeply worried about ever increasing job losses and I call for bipartisan plans to increase employment in my home state of Florida and across the nation. Our middle class is suffering under the worst economic conditions in over 70 years.
Yet, some in Congress have all but ignored the ever growing unemployment rate and instead are working toward passage of a massive healthcare reform bill that experts estimate will lead to over 5 million job losses.
We should be concentrating on creating jobs, not hindering their creation. While families are struggling to make ends meet, the party in power insists on pushing through legislation that will further hurt an already broken economy and lead to fewer jobs. This is exactly what we don’t need. I urge my colleagues to concentrate on job creation programs and introduce bipartisan legislation that will help lift us from the worst unemployment rate since 1983.”
