The Federal Trade Commission enforces federal consumer protection laws that prevent fraud, deception and unfair business practices. The Commission also fields consumer complaints covering a wide variety of topics to include fraud, Internet auctions, identity theft, misleading advertising, credit cards and other consumer protection matters. The FTC's website covers a wide variety of subjects and provides tips on avoiding fraud.
