Middle East Subcommittee Chair Ros-Lehtinen Pleased That FL Colleague Cong. Ted Rep. Deutch Will Be The Top Democrat On The Subcommittee; North Africa Also Part of Subcommittee Jurisdiction
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), former Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, now serving as Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, made the following statement on the announcement of Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) as Ranking Member of that subcommittee.
Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
“I am absolutely delighted that my fellow South Florida colleague and good friend Ted will work alongside me as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee I chair. Ted is a staunch supporter of our ally, the democratic Jewish State of Israel, and firm advocate for promoting peace in the Middle East. Ted and I have collaborated many times on past legislation, including seeking justice for Holocaust survivors, and I look forward to working closely with him in the future. I am certain that with his assistance, we can work across the aisle to coordinate legislation that will further U.S. interests abroad, strengthen our national security, bolster our ties with other responsible democratic nations and unite against the threat of rogue regimes in the region.”
