Pentagon Decision To Construct New & Improved Mini Mall At HARB Will Meet Growing Needs Of Local Military & Veteran Community, Says Ros-Lehtinen

Homestead, Florida – Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), whose Congressional District includes Homestead Air Reserve Base (HARB), issued the following statement after learning that the Department of Defense will proceed with the building of a new and improved Army & Air Force Exchange Facility (mini mall) at HARB.

Congs. Ros-Lehtinen and Allen West (R-FL) sent a letter to the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) requesting expedited approval of the project, which was requested and supported by HARB, after the project was accidently left off this year’s construction list due to an administrative error.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, “I am pleased that this project will finally begin. South Miami-Dade County has been severely impacted by the dismal economic situation and this project will provide jobs during its construction phase and when the stores and gas station are opened.

This new and improved Army and Air Force Exchange facility will also be better equipped to serve the growing needs of our military and veteran population in South Florida. I would like to thank my colleagues in the House and Senate who worked alongside me to reach this goal.”
