Ros-Lehtinen Announces Winner of the 2017 Congressional Art Competition

I am proud of all the students who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition, each participant displayed colorful creativity, talent, and ingenuity with their artwork which made it difficult to pick a winner from these submissions.”

(Miami, FL) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R – FL) has announced the winner and runners up for the 2017 Congressional Art Competition, for her Congressional district. The competition began in 1982 to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district, since more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Each year members of Congress host this annual art competition within their districts to provide opportunities for High School students to have their art displayed for one year at the U.S. Capital and recognized at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC.

-District Winner: LINDA PODER, NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF ARTS

-Second place finisher: CHRISTINA FERNANDEZ, CORAL REEF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

-Third place finisher: EVA BIBAS, CORAL REEF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

-Honorable Mentions: SHAINE TAO, SOUTH MIAMI SCHOOL

Through this competition it is evident that our community is rich in diversity and culture as expressed through each participant’s art work adding to the colorful community for which South Florida is well known. It is an honor to host this competition in my district office recognizing the creative youth within our beloved community and I hope more South Florida students share their creative art work in the next annual Congressional Art Competition!”
