“Today on this solemn day, the world remembers and honors the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who perished on that fateful September 11 morning twelve years ago. The barbaric and cowardly acts of terrorists will forever be ingrained in our memories. But our memories of those lost and of the heroes who ran into the danger to try to save their fellow men and women will remain stronger. We will never forget how our country stood resolute and united in the face of evil and promised to take all appropriate measures to prevent America from falling victim to this kind of tragedy.

“And today is also the one year anniversary of the Benghazi attack in Libya that left four brave Americans dead, including our U.S Ambassador. While we have been steadfast and successful in defending our homeland from this kind of terrorist attack, we must remain vigilant and not ignore the threats emanating from extremists around the world. Today, let us remember those we lost on September 11 in New York City, Arlington, Pennsylvania and in Benghazi. Let us honor their memories by vowing to learn from the past and to do everything in our power to ensure that the United States will not fall pray to these kinds of senseless terrorist attacks.”
