(Washington, DC) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) made the following statement on the introduction of the New American Success Act. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“The New Americans Success Act is key to ensuring we successfully integrate those who have become a part of our national fabric. By promoting civics education, economic integration, and reducing barriers to naturalization, we can make the American dream accessible for all. The United States is a place based on a unifying idea and a diverse people. We owe it to our nation to make sure that new Americans are able to positively contribute to our country from day one.”

“I would like to thank Representative Cárdenas, the advocacy organizations, and the Naturalization Working Group of the New Americans Campaign for their vision and assistance in developing a national integration strategy that will assist the millions of legal permanent residents fulfill their dream of becoming an American citizen. There are great programs like the New American Workforce, which in my hometown of Miami is being championed by Wendy Kallergis, CEO of the Greater Miami & the Beaches Hotel Association, that assist their employees with the citizenship process. It is my hope that we can replicate these practices across the country.”
