Urging South Florida to Support Our Veterans, Ros-Lehtinen Asks Community to Attend Golden Veterans Parade

“Our veterans deserve the highest respect from our community for their service and sacrifice.”

Miami, Florida – Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen urges South Floridians to attend the Golden Veterans Parade, thanking all Vietnam veterans, as well as veterans  of all wars, including World War 2, Korea, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The Golden Veterans Parade will begin Friday, November 8, 2013 at noon in downtown Miami starting at West Flagler Street from the I95 overpass to Bayfront Park. The parade will include floats, marching bands, and veterans’ organizations. At the conclusion of the parade, participants will be treated to performances by Willy Chirino, Grand Funk Railroad, and the 13th Army Band of the Florida National Guard.

Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“Veterans deserve our most sincere thanks for their service to our country. This parade is but one way in which we honor their fight for freedom for us and others around the world. I urge all members of the South Florida community to attend this parade and participate. Our veterans deserve the highest respect from our community for their service and sacrifice.”

NOTE: Ileana's husband, Dexter, a volunteer and combat veteran who was severely wounded in Vietnam, will be marching in the parade in web gear with his band of brothers.
